ENGLISH TRANSLATION:
Last Friday, I went to the mountains.
It was August, it was summer, and yet we went sledding on snow.
How is that possible?
It was Friday, August 14th, 2026. Yes, it was the middle of August.
It was hot. It was 34 degrees. Yes, it was a hot summer day. The sun was shining and there was no wind at all.
I didn’t have any lessons in the afternoon.
How come I didn’t have any lessons?
I cancelled them.
Why did I cancel my lessons?
I cancelled them because we went on a trip after lunch. We went to the mountains. We went to the Krkonoše Mountains.
And how did we get to the Krkonoše Mountains?
We didn’t go by train. We didn’t go by bus either. We went by car.
The journey took about three hours.
When we arrived in the Krkonoše Mountains, we found a car park. The car park was close to the chairlift. We parked the car in the car park and walked to the chairlift.
Why did we go to the chairlift?
We had booked tickets for the bobsleigh track. I was really looking forward to it because this bobsleigh track was 1,600 metres long and had an elevation difference of 250 metres.
Yay!
Right next to the chairlift, there was a big surprise waiting for us.
What was the surprise?
There was a huge pile of snow next to the chairlift. Yes, there was snow. Lots of snow in the middle of summer!
There was snow and there were also sleds that we could borrow. We borrowed some sleds and climbed up a ladder onto the snow. And then we rode down.
And we laughed a lot. It was so much fun.
We were sledding on snow in the middle of summer, and our bottoms got wet from the snow. Yes, the backs of our shorts were wet.
It was great. It couldn’t have been better!
Then we went to the chairlift.
When we got to the chairlift, they told us there was a long queue for the bobsleigh track. They told us we would have to wait for about an hour and a half at the top, even though we had a reservation for 5:30.
We took the chairlift up. At the top, we got off and walked to the bobsleigh track.
There was a long queue. We waited for about an hour and fifteen minutes.
And what did we do there?
There was a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside. We could see the mountains and forests.
Next to the bobsleigh track, there was a stand selling homemade lemonade. It was really hot, so we got ourselves some homemade lemonade. It was really good.
We drank our lemonade and waited in the queue.
Then it was my turn.
I got on, fastened my seat belt, and when the traffic light turned green, I set off.
At first, I went really fast. I was going downhill. I turned left and right.
When there was a sharp bend, I started braking.
I was scared. Yes, I was afraid, so I wasn’t going fast. I was going slowly.
Then I stopped being scared and started going fast again. But after a while, I caught up with the woman who was riding in front of me. I had to stop and wait.
Then I could go fast again.
I really enjoyed it.
Then we went sledding on the snow again.
At 7:30, we headed back home. When we got home, it was already dark. It was night.
It was a great trip. I really enjoyed it.
And what about you?
