Episode 55 (daily podcast CZECH YOUR DAY) transcript included

THIS WEEK’S TOPIC: FREQUENCY + JEZDIT/CHODIT

THE TRANSCRIPT/HANDOUT IS DOWN BELOW

Today’s episode is designed for you to practice not only JEZDIT and CHODIT, but also expresions of frequency that you have heard since Monday (#51).

Dialogue 1: Holidays

  • Jak často jezdíš na dovolenou?
(How often do you go on holiday?)
  • Response: Většinou třikrát za rok. V květnu ráda jezdím na týden do Španělska nebo Francie.
(Usually three times a year. In May, I like going for a week to Spain or France.)
  • A co ráda děláš, když jsi na dovolené u moře?
(And what do you like doing when you’re on holiday by the sea?)
  • Response: Ráda chodím každý den na pláž, plavu v moři a opaluju se na pláži.
(I like going to the beach every day, I swim in the sea and sunbathe on the beach.)

Dialogue 2: Visits to Prague

  • Proč často jezdíš o víkendu do Prahy?
(Why do you often go to Prague on weekends?)
  • Response: Mám Prahu moc rád. A také tam mám přítelkyni.
(I really like Prague, and I also have a girlfriend there.)
  • A čím jezdíš do Prahy?
(And how do you travel to Prague?)
  • Response: Často jezdím autem. Tak sedmkrát za měsíc. A když se mi nechce řídit auto, jezdím vlakem.
(I often drive. About seven times a month. And when I don’t feel like driving, I take the train.)
  • A proč nejezdíš autobusem?
(And why don’t you take the bus?)
  • Response: Autobusy z našeho města do Prahy nejezdí. Jezdí jenom vlaky.
(Buses don’t go from our town to Prague. Only trains do.)

Dialogue 3: Visiting Plzeň

  • Kde teď jsi? Jdeš teď do města?
(Where are you now? Are you going into the city?)
  • Response: Ne, nejdu do města. Jsem teď ve vlaku.
(No, I’m not going into the city. I’m currently on a train.)
  • A kam jedeš?
    (And where are you heading?)
  • Response: Jedu do Plzně.
    (I’m going to Plzeň.)
  • Už zase? Proč tam jezdíš tak často?
(Again? Why do you go there so often?)
  • Response: Bydlí tam moje babička. Chodím k ní na návštěvu dvakrát za měsíc.
(My grandmother lives there. I visit her twice a month.)
