Preparing for the Perfect Holiday: Packing Tips and Travel Preparations

As we dive into holiday preparations this week, today we’ll focus on packing essentials, pre-trip must-dos, and delightful holiday activities.

Packing Essentials

Here’s my packing list:

Clothing/Oblečení:

  • Sandále, žabky a sportovní boty
    (Sandals, flip-flops, and sport shoes)
  • Letní kalhoty, šortky, šaty
    (Summer trousers, shorts, dresses)
  • Trička, spodní prádlo, pyžamo a mikina
(T-shirts, underwear, pyjamas, and a hoodie)
  • Plavky a ručník
    (Swimsuit and a towel)

Hygiene Items:

  • Kartáček a pasta na zuby, opalovací krém
    (Toothbrush and toothpaste, sun cream)
  • Rtěnka, šampón, sprchový gel a léky
(Lipstick, shampoo, shower gel, and meds)

Electronics:

  • Notebook, dva telefony (koupím si místní SIM kartu), powerbanku a nabíječky
(Laptop, two phones because I’ll buy a local sim card, power bank, and chargers)

Travel Essentials:

  • Dolary, platební karty, pas, cestovní pojištění a mezinárodní řidičský průkaz
(Dollars, cards, passport, travel insurance, and international driving permit)
  • Budu mít sedmikilový batoh a malou kabelku
    (I’ll have a seven-kilo backpack and a small handbag)

Pre-trip Must-dos

Before hitting the road, here’s what I will have to take care of:

  • Cestovní pojištění a mezinárodní řidičský průkaz
(Travel insurance and international driving permit)
  • Vízum, poplatek nebo turistická daň
    (Visa, fee, or tourist tax)
  • Poslat hotelu číslo letu. Před letištěm na mě bude čekat taxikář.
(Send my flight number to the hotel. There will be a taxi driver waiting for me in front of the airport.)

Holiday Activities

My holiday itinerary wouldn’t be complete without some fun! Here’s what I can indulge in:

  • Plavat v moři a pozorovat delfíny
(Swim in the sea and observe dolphins)
  • Potápět se a cestovat
    (Dive and travel)
  • Bydlet v krásném hotelu a jezdit na motorce
(Stay in a beautiful hotel and ride a motorbike)
  • Odpočívat a učit se vařit tradiční jídla
(Relax and learn to cook traditional meals)

Questions for you

As we wrap up, I have three questions for you to ponder:

  1. Jezdíš raději s kufrem nebo s batohem?
(Do you prefer traveling with a suitcase or a backpack?)
  2. Kam pojedeš na dovolenou?
(Where will you go on your holiday?)
  3. Co budeš na dovolené dělat?
(What will you do on your holiday?)

Now, it’s your turn! Make your own list in Czech of what you would pack for your holiday, using expressions from today’s episode. Napiš si seznam v češtině, co si vezmeš na dovolenou.
