I’ll start with activities that bring me immense joy.
Every morning, I meditate. It’s my way of centering myself for the day ahead. Another passion of mine? Jumping rope. I currently do 1,000 jumps daily! Walking with my dog Sára is another favorite pastime, alongside baking and cooking—especially making tea from fresh mint. In autumn and winter, swapping to ginger tea with lemon and honey is a must. And when it comes to travelling, I savour every moment. This summer, I had the pleasure of spending a month in Bali. When I travel, trying new dishes is a delightful adventure.
Here’s how I would talk about these preferences in Standard Czech (= TEXTBOOK VERSION):
Reading is another enjoyment, especially books in Spanish. When time permits, I adore swimming and snorkeling in the sea.
On the flip side, some activities just aren’t my cup of tea. For instance, carrying an umbrella isn’t something I relish. Shopping, particularly venturing to stores, follows suit in my list of dislikes. Lastly, trips to Prague by car and the struggles of parking are far from enjoyment.
In Czech, this would sound like:
And remember, the informal Czech you’ll hear isn’t always the polished textbook version. Often, it’s a blend of both. Embrace it as it adds authenticity to your language abilities.
