This week, we’re practicing vocab related to the topic shopping and making a complaint. Let’s see how much you’ve learnt. Remember, it’s about guessing from the context, so try to immerse yourself in the language.

The Story: V sobotu pojedu do města (On Saturday, I’m Going to the City)

V sobotu dopoledne pojedu do města. (On Saturday morning, I’m going to the city.)
Pojedu autem, protože potřebuju nakoupit. (I’m going by car because I need to shop.)
Nejdřív pojedu do drogerie, protože budu muset koupit pastu na zuby, krém a šampón. (First, I’ll go to the drugstore because I’ll have to buy a toothpaste, cream, and shampoo.)
Také půjdu do obuvi. Potřebuju nové sandále, protože se mi staré sandále rozbily. (Then I’ll go to the shoe store. I need new sandals because my old ones broke.)
A pak půjdu do elektra. Potřebuju koupit na dovolenou novou powerbanku. (Then I’ll go to the electronics store. I need to buy a new power bank for the holiday.)

Later on, in the story, we face a little challenge:

Potom půjdu do zlatnictví, protože se mi rozbily zlaté náušnice. Budu je muset reklamovat. (Then I’ll go to the jeweler’s because my gold earrings broke. I’ll have to make a complaint.)
Budu potřebovat účtenku. (I’ll need the receipt.)
Budu muset říct paní prodavačce: „Dobrý den. V únoru jsem si tady koupila zlaté náušnice. Bohužel je musím reklamovat, protože se rozbilo zapínání. Nemůžu teď náušnice zapnout.“ (I’ll have to tell the saleswoman, „Good day. In February, I bought gold earrings here. Unfortunately, I have to make a complaint about them because the clasp broke. I can’t fasten the earrings now.“)
Paní prodavačka se zeptá: „A máte účtenku?“ (The saleswoman will ask, „Do you have the receipt?“)
Já odpovím: „Ano, tady je.“ (I’ll answer, „Yes, here it is.“)
Paní prodavačka si vezme účtenku a náušnice. Náušnice zváží a začne vyplňovat formulář, který budu muset podepsat. (The saleswoman will take the receipt and earrings. She will weigh the earrings, and will stars filling in a form that I’ll have to sign.)
A řekne mi: „Jaké je, prosím, vaše telefonní číslo? Až budou náušnice opravené, pošlu vám esemesku.“ (And she’ll say, „What is your phone number, please? When the earrings are repaired, I’ll send you an SMS.“)
Já odpovím: „Dobře, děkuji.“ (I’ll reply, „Thank you.“)
Pak pojedu nakupovat do supermarketu. Potom pojedu domů. (Then I’ll do the supermarket shopping. After that, I’ll go home.)
