Episode 31 (daily podcast CZECH YOUR DAY) transcript included

THIS WEEK’S TOPIC: WHAT TIME IS IT/KOLIK JE HODIN (part 2)

THE TRANSCRIPT/HANDOUT IS DOWN BELOW

Today’s focus is expressing time in Czech, specifically „quarter past.“

Before we delve into examples, here are a couple of key differences from English to keep in mind:

  1. In typical Czech fashion, when expressing time like „quarter past,“ we refer to the upcoming hour.
  2. The numbers three through twelve are used in their base forms, with exceptions being numbers one and two.

An additional note: this expression is only used in the 12-hour system.
