Today’s episode will be the first part. I will share with you only seven places so that you don’t feel overwhelmed, and I will divide them into three categories: masculine, feminine, and neutral.

Masculine Nouns:

• ten oběd (lunch): V pondělí jsem šla do restaurace na oběd. (On Monday, I went to a restaurant for lunch.)
• ten koncert (concert): V sobotu jsme šli na koncert. (On Saturday, we went to a concert.)

Feminine Nouns:

• ta univerzita (university): V úterý odpoledne šel Marek na univerzitu. (On Tuesday afternoon, Marek went to the university.)
• ta zastávka (bus/tram stop): Ve čtvrtek šli na zastávku. (On Thursday, they went to the stop.)
• ta policie (police): Ve středu jsem šel na policii. (On Wednesday, I went to the police.)

Neutral Nouns:

• to nádraží (railway station): V neděli jsem šel na nádraží. (On Sunday, I went to the railway station.)
• to letiště (airport): Pak jsem šel na letiště. (Then I went to the airport.)

Grammatical Patterns to Note:

You see a pattern here. The masculine and neutral nouns do not change when talking about places. The tricky part is with the feminine nouns, as seen with words ending in -A such as UNIVERZITA – which changes to -U (ŠEL JSEM NA UNIVERZITU) and those ending in -E like POLICIE – which changes to -I (JDU NA POLICII). If you’re into the grammar of it, these are all in the accusative case.
